How our Glass Ornaments are Painted from the InsideHow Our Glass Ornaments are Painted from the Inside

How our Glass Ornaments are Painted from the Inside 1. We begin with clear hand-blown glass spheres, which have a small aperture. In order for the paint to adhere to the inside surface, each sphere is frosted. Custom made bent and curved brushes of varying sizes are insterted through the small aperture.
How our Glass Ornaments are Painted from the Inside 2. The artist begins by faithfully copying the outline of the original two dimensional design on the frosted surface freehand, while envisioning it on a spherical surface.Patientce and a steady hand are important, as if any mistakes are made, the piece may be ruined.
How our Glass Ornaments are Painted from the Inside 3. After the outlines are completed, the artist starts filling in the colours. The paint must be a certain consistency in order to adhere evenly. As more paint is applied, the difficulty increases because the visibility of the brush tip is diminished. Depending on the complexity of the design an ornament will take an artist anywhere from half a day to 3 days to finish.
How our Glass Ornaments are Painted from the Inside 4. Once the ornament is complete and the paint has dried, a metallic cap is placed in the aperture. Each ornament is truly unique and a keepsake to be passed down through the generations.
